Schank Family Prayer Letter September – October 2013

September – October 2013 Prayer Letter

Dear Supporters and Praying Friends,

Greetings from Blair! I trust this letter finds you fighting the good fight of the faith. If there was ever a time to be standing up for the Truth of God’s Holy, Infallible, Inerrant, and Immutable Word… its TODAY! Like never before, we should be that Light Jesus spoke about in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (KJV)

The last two months have been absolutely AWESOME! Our church family has grown closer than ever! Our congregation has seen several answers to specific prayers regarding health, finances, family problems, new visitors to church and ministry milestones. During the first part of October we held our second revival meeting. Pastor Randy Miller, from the Knobs Baptist Church of Tower Hill, Illinois, did a fabulous job preaching! We also had Steve and Bonita Epley, from Washington, Iowa, with us for the last half of the meeting. God greatly blessed their music. The highlight of the meeting was when a young lady got saved!!! This makes 10 for the year! Hallelujah!

Our church has been blessed greatly this year and with that comes a lot of responsibility. We have been entrusted with many trials and tests of faith. Just about every family in our congregation is facing some sort of crisis. We need your prayers! Specifically, our church needs your prayers more than EVER!

Let me explain… we are in great need of facilities of our own. Currently we are using an unused portion of an American Baptist Church who has graciously allowed us to do so for a while. Even without proper signage, God has blessed us with many first time visitors. We have ads in the local paper, use our website, and we distribute literature for people to know about us. We are quickly running close to the max in the fellowship area that we use for our public worship services. We need a building of our own.

Due to local zoning laws, we are severely restricted in where we can put our church. As of right now, outside of buying land and building a building of our own, there is one building we could use in town. The owner is asking too much, it would have to be repurposed, and I don’t know if we could cover the monthly expenses of THAT building… IF we had the money to acquire it.

On behalf of some of the sweetest people I have ever had the delight in pastoring, I am asking you to labor with us in prayer in the matter getting our own facilities. God has blessed our church to have saved over $5,000 in a little over a year and a half towards a building. Someone has generously promised $25,000 more when we get ready, at some point, to make an acquisition. With what we have on hand, it is still “loaves and fishes”, but we KNOW what Jesus can do with that… don’t we?

If anybody would like to know more details about our situation, then please call me. Sometime within the next month, I will have everything on our website where you can follow our situation more closely. We want to thank you ahead of time for praying for this situation!!!
