May – June 2013 Prayer Letter
Dear Supporters and Praying Friends,
Greetings from Blair, Nebraska! On behalf of my family, I would like to express our sincerest appreciation for your fervent prayers and generous financial contributions in the last two months. Our needs have been met and we are very thankful! The Lord has been good to our family and church!
The months of May and June have been a roller coaster for us. We have had some tremendous blessings as well as some severe trials. Throughout each situation, the Lord has shown Himself strong on our behalf. I went into the Hospital twice in May. One time for symptoms related to my heart and a second time with a kidney stone. Needless to say, I am glad I am feeling better!
Our family enjoyed having some family friends visit with us from North Carolina. That sure was an encouragement to me. It was fun talking about old times!!! We also enjoyed having my Dad and Stepmother travel from New York. They were here during the kidney stone incident, and we had some great times together in spite of the unwanted interruption!
Shilo and I have endured some ministry disappointments lately, but they have been overshadowed by an explosion of ministry opportunities which I have not seen in many years. One door closes and many others have opened! God has graciously provided numerous opportunities to disciple/counsel with individuals that we have known for a year or better. Up until this point, we have known these families at a distance, but God has burdened them to seek our help and all I can say is, “WOW!”
It seems that the Lord has answered a huge prayer for our church. We have been asking the Lord to give us direction in expanding our Sunday School. We have two individuals who are going to be starting a younger teen class for us. Pray as we ramp this up in the next month!
We have seen another burst in visitors lately! It is amazing how God orchestrates things. Our people are reaching out to friends and family as never before! This is due, in part, to our theme… “Each One Reach One!” It excites me to see others get excited about sharing the gospel and inviting people to come to church!
Continue to pray for our new converts as well as our new contacts. God is putting things together and I want to be sensitive to His leading. Our church is still meeting in another church’s fellowship hall. We are grateful for this, but we also desire a place of our own. Please help us pray about this situation. We have prayed that God would do something in Blair that folks would have to say, “God did that and not man,” and there is no doubt in my mind that THAT is what is going on. As many of you know, the primary reason for our not having our own building is due to the tight zoning restrictions. Blair is a “closed” community in many ways, but God has birthed our church in spite of this situation. I am glad that I did not see this before I came here… it probably would have been more intimidating that is has been!
In conclusion, I want you to know that Shilo has enjoyed the birthday cards and kind notes from you. We threw a surprise birthday party for her at church and she knew nothing about it! That is real good considering that she usually knows EVERYTHING! We love each and every one of you all and thank God for you. If you have any questions about our ministry or if I can help you in any way, then please do not hesitate to give us a call or email us. May Christ richly bless you and your family!
